Charity Donations - 2014

Every year the Provincial Grand Lodge organise a sponsored walk, This is attended by Brethren from all over Angus and Dundee. The monies raised, is donated to various local charities across the province. In 2014 over £4000 was raised and divided into 9 x £500 Donations.

The Provincial Grand Master, Bro. Sandy Christie, would ask that the Lodges, who have nominated these good causes, to organise the presentation of the cheques along with the other Lodges in their area. It would seem logical that the Provincial Grand Lodge Office Bearer takes the responsibility of ensuring that this organisation and presentation takes place. If there currently no PGL Office Bearer then the Master, Wardens and Secretary should take on this responsibility.

The Army Cadet Force (A.C.F. ) is one of the U.K.'s oldest, largest and most successful youth organisations.

The Grove Detachment is based at the Castle Barracks, Broughty Ferry and runs every Thursday evening 18.30 - 21.30. Their object is to develop young people aged 12 18 years physically and mentally, improving self-confidence, teamwork, friendship and leadership. I attended a recent Presentation evening which was most enjoyable and during the course of the evening learned that due to recent cut backs finances were very low and they depended greatly on donations. I decided to hold a raffle with all donations coming from the brethren of Forfarshire and the proceeds going to the Cadets. The sum raised was £430 00 which was augmented to £500.00. The cheque was presented at their headquarters on Thursday 3rd July and Captain Brown was extremely delighted and stated the money would be used to buy much needed equipment. I thank all the brethren who participated in making this venture a success and it's a great feeling to be helping the youth of today
Many thanks
